The Krystal Clear Saltwater System combines a unique two-stage technology to sanitize pool water. First an undetectable level of natural salt is added to pool water and passes through a titanium coated electrolyte cell during the filtration process. The result is soft, fresh, clean water without the potential harsh side of effects of packaged pool chemicals. Second , with the copper ionization feature, highly active disinfectant ions are released which creat a potent biocide and attack algae more aggressively than chlorine or other packaged pool chemicals

 

Pure, natural salt is added to the pool water. The same salt that is used in residential water softeners. The amount of salt required creates salt levels only one tenth as much as ocean water, so swimmers won't see, feel, or smell any salt. All you will feel is incredibly clean, fresh and soft water.

As part of the daily filtration cycle, the pool water passes through the system's titanium coated electrolytic cell to produce sodium hypochlorite which is instantly dissolved into the water. This process produces effective, but low levels of chlroine which is the first key step in destroying bacteria and algae.

Combining copper ionization with the electrolysis process reduces the amount of chlroine by up to 70%. This is because when the copper ions are released into the water they attach to micro organism cell walls and block photosythesis (the process of converting light into useable food and energy). As a result, the cells die and the spread of algae is controlled.

Because salt does not evaporate, this process automatically repeats itself daily when the saltwater system is operated. When water evaporates, simply add more water and the salt level will remain the same. Unless water is splashed out of the pool you may never have to add more salt.

They represent approximately 38% of pool filtration systems, compared to 35% for cartridge filters, and 27% for Diatomaceous Earth (DE) systems.
