Sand Filter Pumps can be the lowest cost and easiest maintenance option, requiring sand replacement only every 5 years on average. They represent approximately 38% of pool filtration systems, compared to 35% for cartridge filters, and 27% for Diatomaceous Earth (DE) systems. Sand and cartridge filters are growing while DE filters are declining due to the increasing number of municipalities banning them. Intex's Sand Filter Pumps use powerful motors to achieve strong water flow rates. The 14" (350mm) sand filter pump is best suited for above ground pools up to 12,800 gallons, while the 16" (410mm) sand filter pump is best suited for pools up to 21,200 gallons. The pool owner is able to easily operate each unit in 6 modes: Standard Filtration, Backwash. Rinse, Recirculate. Drain, and Close.
