INSTALLATION OF ABOVE GROUND POOL HEATER

Heating an above ground outdoor pool can extend the swimming season by weeks or months, giving you more enjoyment as a result.

Installing a heater can be simple or complex, depending on the type chosen. Here's how you get started.

Difficulty: Challenging Instructions

Things You'll Need:

* Installation instructions

* Tools (instructions will tell you which ones)

Step 1
Decide on the type of heater you want. Trends point toward some form of solar heating that uses as much of the sun's energy as possible. This is not only better for the environment, but is also much less expensive to operate.

Step 2
Read installation instructions thoroughly.

Most swimming pool systems follow a basic concept of cool water intake, filtering, passing through a heating system and then outlet into the pool. The main difference is in the heating system itself.

Step 3
Determine if you can do all the steps yourself.

A solar system is quite doable for a handy person, as it usually just involves connecting water intake to the filters and the solar collector and then to the outlet so warm water flows.

However, if gas or propane is the choice, contact a professional.

Step 4
Do a dry run.

Lay out all the equipment,

Check parts

Find the space for mounting panels, if necessary, and select the best location for pumps and hoses.

Walk through the installation instructions as you do this, checking that all parts are there.

Step 5
Complete the hookup.

Make sure connections are tight, that the electronic controls are functioning properly and there are no leaks along the system
