Installation of Ozonator for your swimming pool

You'd like to benefit from the clean, clear chemical-free swimming pool an ozonator provides, but you're not sure how to install it.

With a few plumbing tools and electrical knowledge, you can install a swimming pool ozonator and enjoy the low chemical maintenance it provides. Here is how to install a swimming pool ozonator to keep the water clean and clear.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You'll Need:
1) Outdoor power source near pool filter
2) Ozonator

Step 1
Determine the proper size of ozonator by the gallons of water your swimming pool holds.

Step 2
Wire your power supply for your ozonator. This is either a 120-volt or 240-volt line depending on the type of ozonator you select for your swimming pool. Check placement for electrical hazard protection and wiring issues.

Step 3
Install the ozonator according to the manufacturer's directions. This location should be somewhere close to the pool's return on the filter system or with an injector system installed just after the filter.

Step 4
Attach the timer to the ozonator if your ozonator provides one. This keeps your pool at maximum cleaning capacity and limits the amount of high voltage energy the ozonator uses.

Step 5
Plug the ozonator into the power supply and enjoy your clean and clear swimming pool water when you need it.

Installation of Ozonator for your spa

Ozonators are a great way for spa owners to keep their water clean without relying on a cupboard full of chemicals. Fortunately for spa owners, many manufacturers have recognized this need and have designed their products to accommodate the ozonators.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Mount your ozonator in a dry, well-ventilated place. Most manufacturers recommend attaching it to the spa cabinet, the wall of the hot tub room or in a dry place under your deck. The idea is to keep this within reach but safe from getting wet.

Step 2
Connect the ozonator's tubing to the hot tub. Locate the small jet at the bottom of your tub. There will be a jet port and an air port. Connect the tubing to these ports and run the tubing back to where you have mounted your ozonator and securely fasten this to the port.

Step 3
Cut the tubing about six inches from the ozonator. You are going to attach these two back together by using the check valve included with your ozonator. Insert the end of the valve that does not allow air to pass through so it faces the spa. Insert the opposite end in the short piece of tubing from the ozonator.

Step 4
Insert the electrical plug attachment into the ozonator. This end is clearly marked on the cord and fits in without forcing. Find the power plug installed near your spa's pump and plug the other end in.

Step 5
Set the timer on your spa to function for 3 hours of every 12-hour cycle. This will provide your spa with a large enough dose of ozone to cleanse it.
